Bookshelf speakers with an audiophile pedigree
Wharfedale's new AURA speaker series draws inspiration from the company's luxurious, high-end Elysian models, and it even uses some of the same advanced technology. The AURA 1 features a high-performance AMT tweeter, a unique mid/bass cone material, and a crossover that took hundreds of hours to develop and perfect.

Advanced folded tweeter design
The AURA 1's distinctive tweeter uses a folded diaphragm to get a much larger tweeter in a smaller area. The tweeter's diaphragm is immersed in a powerful magnetic field to give it lightning-quick response times. It reproduces silky-smooth highs with minimal distortion and incredible detail.

Clear mids and bass
Midrange and bass frequencies are handled by a 5" glass-fiber matrix cone woofer. This driver features a carefully designed motor structure, including a high-flexibility rubber surround, that helps minimize distortion even in high-excursion situations. It delivers accurate, controlled mids and lows down to 48 Hz.

Precision-tuned crossovers
Great drivers need great crossovers to sound their best. Wharfedale spent hundreds of hours fine-tuning the crossover in the AURA 1s, using both advanced analysis and careful listening. As a result, these crossover networks ensure that the woofer and tweeter each play exactly the frequencies they were designed for, while keeping the transition between the two drivers seamless. The crossover circuits for the tweeter and the woofer are built on their own respective circuit boards to keep interference and noise out of the equation.

Thoughtful cabinet design that's a feast for the eyes
The AURA 1s are beautiful to look at, but behind that beauty lies a lot of purpose and forethought. Each cabinet is crafted with multiple layers of different woods which reduces troublesome panel resonances to near-silence. The lack of sharp angles helps disperse sound while eliminating baffle reflections.

Wharfedale's patented SLPP (Slot Loaded Profiled Port) enhances the speakers' bass output. The downward-firing ports direct airflow from the cabinets down through a series of slot ports in each speaker's plinth to equalize the air pressure in the room and inside the cabinet. What that means in plain terms is reduced turbulence (or "chuffing") and increased efficiency.
